About COPE

COPE is proud to be the first Ophthalmic Pathology Laboratory in Karnataka, specializing in the examination and diagnosis of diseases affecting the eye and its surrounding tissues.

Ophthalmic Pathology is a unique sub-specialty combining Ophthalmology and Pathology. At COPE, we provide Histopathology and Cytology services to identify diseases at a cellular and tissue level, greatly aiding in precise patient management.

As a teaching institute, COPE offers students hands-on experience in diagnosing intraocular and orbital pathologies, including malignancies.

Services We Offer

Histopathology (HPE)

  • Systematic grossing and reporting of enucleated & eviscerated eyeballs per current guidelines.
  • Reporting of biopsies from the lid, cornea, conjunctiva, orbit, and periorbital regions.
  • Second opinions and review reports.

Advanced Diagnostics

  • Immunohistochemical (IHC) studies with expert interpretation.
  • Immunofluorescence for conjunctival biopsies.

Cytology

  • Vitreous and aqueous tap cytology with cell block preparation for IHC.
  • FNAC & FNAB (Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology & Biopsies).
  • Impression cytology for OSSN, dry eye evaluation, and infections.

About Dr. Shruthi

  • Over 13 years of experience in surgical pathology, cytology, haematology, clinical pathology, and IHC.
  • MBBS and MD (Pathology) from JSS Medical College, Mysore.
  • Gold Medallist in Pathology.
  • Fellowship in Ophthalmic Pathology from Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai.
  • Certified in Nephropathology by the International Society of Nephrology.
  • Trained in NABL audits as per ISO 15189:2012.
  • Member of the Indian Association of Ophthalmic Pathology (IAOP).
