Before your visit
Who can receive treatment at Narayana Nethralaya?
Any injury around the eye should combine the expertise of an eye surgeon during treatment; the first chance is the best chance of having a good result. The orbit and oculoplasty surgeon can repair an orbital fracture. The advantage is that the double vision and other visual problems can the treated at the same time as the repair.
In some patients, the fracture extends to the cheek bone. In such a situation, a maxillofacial surgeon can do combined surgery along with the oculoplastic surgeon.
Do I need an appointment before going to NN for medical treatment? How do I begin the process?
Yes, you do need to arrange an appointment. Please call or email us. You’ll be assigned an International Patients coordinator who will help you every step of the way. The assigned coordinator will make every effort to schedule all of the testing and procedures you’ll need before you arrive.
Do I need to provide my medical records to NN?
Yes, our doctors need to be well-informed about your condition before you arrive. Having your medical records (in English) will also allow the International Patients coordinator to refer you to the best-matched specialist at NN. Medical records include doctor’s notes, treatment history, operative reports (which provide details of medical procedures), and pathology, imaging and lab reports.
How Do I Send Medical Records, Imaging, and Other Information?

Ensure that all medical records are in English and email them to the same address above.
Imaging:
If you have digital files of your medical images or scans, you may email them to us. However, please note that files larger than 5 MB typically cannot be sent as email attachments. Follow these steps to properly send imaging scans:
On your computer, create a new folder named after the patient.
Place all imaging scans in this folder.
Compress the entire folder into a single ZIP file. (Do not zip individual files separately.)
Upload the ZIP file to your email or a secure file-sharing service.
Notify us by email at International Patient Care@narayananethralaya.com once the folder is uploaded.
After we download the folder, it will be transferred to appropriate media and forwarded to a specialist for review.
